~ Moving Tips ~

Call PDX Premier College Movers to assist with your move...

The first tip to give a potential customer would be to make sure you hire a licensed, state approved, insured, and experienced moving company. Don't try to pinch pennies and hire cheaper movers to trust with your prized possessions, who have no insurance at all.

Be as organized as is possible when preparing for moving day...

Understandably ï»¿moving is going to make home's seem disorganized, but if you are interested in saving time and money, our best tip would be to have as much items packed and ready to go as you can. When we have to take items off of dressers, or out of hutches or china cabinets, it only slows us down. Plan ahead and let us know what you need, and we can have our packing teams come help out when needed, for when work and life get in the way.

Utilize boxes and box space...

Make sure to pack your boxes full before sealing them up. Not overly heavy, but just make sure you don't leave a box half full and then seal it up. What happens is, unless we packed your boxes, we don't know what is in each box, and we stack them to save space in the truck, POD, or storage unit. When it is a long stay such as a storage unit, or cross country POD trip, those half full boxes will give way to the weight of other possible boxes on top of them, causing boxes to smash and compact, possibly falling causing ï»¿property damage. So if your packing your own boxes, make sure to pack safe and smart, and fill up the boxes completely.

Don't waste time packing up dresser drawer clothes into boxes...

So many times we see piles of extra boxes in the bedrooms, and the customer still even pulled the drawers out of the sresser to make it lighter for us. As a mover, and a packer, this is just added space, and honestly wasted space. For the most part, we can carry a loaded dresser up or down 3 flights of stairs. If it happens to be extremely heavey, we will then take out some drawers, only to put them right back in on the truck to save space. So the clothes might have well been left in the drawers, as they are already basically boxed. Understandably you may want to remove some personal belongings, but you don't have to waste the money on the extra boxes, or the time packing up the drawers.

Keep Giving Direction....

Don't be afraid to give out orders, kindly of course, please. But we really do want to be told where everything should go. You can give us a quick walk thru of the new home before an unload, but don't disappear leaving the movers wondering where some other things go. We will still have questions, as to what exact walls something is to be placed, or if it is to be centered or in a corner, etc. It is your move after all, your property, and your new home, and we want to make sure we get things where you would prefer, and make sure we have done everything we could to make your move as stress free and easy as possible.
